HISTORY OF 2CVKEZA BOOT BOX

Probably in the seventies of the last century, someone noted that 2CV has too small trunk for all that one need on his travels... Nobody knows who was that smart guy (or girl). But what we know is that little gadget known as 2CV Boot box started its raid. Metal, wooden, plastic,... In the early eighties, a member of the YUAS club seen abroad this box and brought the idea to us. In the club newspaper he published the plan for making the 2cv boot extension. Boot extension immediately became popular among the 2CV drivers. Mostly these were DIY built

In that era some small company in Slovenia started to produce and sell boot extension made from polyester fibers and a small duck on its left corner. It was copy of some boot box made in EU. It has become a normal part of 2CV. If you want to travel, if you collect stickers of countries or 2CV meetings you visited, if you want your bed in it, if you want kitchen in it, if your family is big and you need more space for luggage... put a boot box on your 2CV and you have all you need. My first boot extension I bought in 1993. It was that well known plastic one with duck in left corner. I started to travel around on meetings, with my bed in it and all the goods that I needed. But always when rain started... I was wet inside... It was leaking on all corners of boot opening. Yes, trunk lid was not meant to be in horizontal position on 2CV. Then someday I overloaded my plastic boot extension and I lost it with all stuff that was in it. It just fell off my 2CV ... those two little catches on sides were not strong enough to hold it . Then I notice another problem. As this plastic boot extension was too big , drivers behind me couldn't see my back lights when they were too close to me. Like, stopping behind my car. Most dangerous were when I wanted to turn left and driver behind me couldn't see my back indicator and wanted to overtake me... A lot of unwanted situation occur as it was made as it was. And I wasn't only one with those problems in that time.

One day, now 28 years ago a friend of mine came to me and ask if I can make new boot extension from sheet metal. For him I made my first Boot box. It was a bit smaller than plastic one , with side water drain channels, four strong catches on inside. This guy tested it for about one year, traveling around with his wife and young son. He was very satisfied with it. It was dry inside, strong enough for all laguage they need and small enough that 2CV back lights were visible for others.
That is how my 2CV boot box was born. It just needed some name and I started to call it "Kufer". It is Slovenian dialectal word for suitcase. I started to produce and sell it to customers in Slovenia and Croatia. With its good characteristics it has become very popular among many 2CV friends.

During past years I constantly improve it. But idea and design stays same as it was 28 years ago. Now it is made from zinc plated 0.8 mm sheet metal, it has pressed side reinforcement and some other features added. Customers from aroud Europe accepted this product very well and it is available for purchase in all mayor 2CV shops ... Burton, ECAS , CiPeRe, DerFranzose...
At this moment our 2CV BOOT BOX is not available from our stock. Your nearest distributor of 2CVKEŽA spare parts is DerFranzose or CiPeRe https://www.franzose.de/en/Citroen-2CV/2CV6/Gepaecktraeger/ANR19044/
